"The right kind of Doctor..."
!!! Really, "!!!" is all I have. That was just... Okay, first ep first, I liked gay!Jack Harkness (and I called him on that from the start), and there was nice angst, made better by the fact that he had to die, and they weren't even going to attempt to save him. I'm also happy to see Tosh at work. She's so sensible, both intelligent and practical and *strong*.
Owen, incidentally, is none of those things. She dumped you! She's rather risk flying off to the unknown past, present of future, then deal with your confession of love! The fact that you fell in love with her is really not that important. Ianto, next time, shoot him more.
Nice to see Ianto with a gun, and knowing how to use it. Good to see Gwen doing her detective thing. That is her skill and training, and I know some people think she's not as qualified as the rest of Torchwood, but she's there for a reason, and the writers are good at showing us that.
Also, Tosh at work is a thing of beauty. For all that she's shown at a desk, when she is out doing field work, she's repeatedly shown to be intelligent, strong, capable, determined, and above all, sensible. She doesn't lose it under pressure, and she doesn't act selfishly.
Tosh, incidentally, is the Torchwood member I most think of a companion. She has the right curiosity and appreciation for the universe, the right desire to see it, while being very centered, sensible and intelligent under dire circumstances.
Also, I'm very relieved that Rhys is alive. I have a great fondness for Rhys. Gwen/Boring Boyfriend OTP!
And then the ending! The sounds of the Tardis! That, right there? That's just *love* and everything t takes to make me happy, while wailing and gnashing my teeth at how long I'll have to wait til the new series starts.
