for the narutoyaoi community? And it pretty much had to be yaoi.

So I was a good girl and did my yaoi entry, but this was in my head too.

She doesn’t love him. She just loves the way he makes her feel.

Sakura has told Lee this often. Fair warning, because she owes him that much.

He holds her like she was special. There’s nothing wrong with liking that, is there?

And—she knows what they think. She’s being cruel. Leading him on. Letting him think he has a chance, when he’s so much in love, and does so much for her, with her. To her, although they don’t know the details of that, just that neither of them are quiet lovers. She’s just using him, and it’s true in a way, but.

Yes, well. But. Lee makes her feel like she could be strong. Not like he’s making her stronger, but like she could do it herself.

He makes her feel loved, cherished. Not protected, exactly. Lee would be a shield, if she let him, but they’re on different teams, facing different dangers. He’s not there when she needs help most, so that’s what she has her teamates for. It’s just nice to know that after, she can come back to him. Not a shield, but a shelter. A place to rest after.

She likes knowing someone thinks she’s worth the effort. She likes the flowers and chocolates and poetry. She likes the presents and the time and effort he puts into wooing her. She’s not a bad girlfriend. She doesn’t cheat on him, except in her mind. She doesn’t make fun of him behind his back.

She just isn’t in love with him.
