It's snowing! A lovely, bright day and my school is at the top of a hill, so we can see pretty much all of Sendai and the mountains in the background, and all these snowflakes dancing in the air.

Dance on Monday

Was moderately painful. My fan is still turning into a katana, for, as far as I can tell, no reason whatsoever. We step about, in a pretty girly fashion (painful, since the standard woman position is toes in, knees together, and kind fo doing that exercise where you sit down on an imaginary chair) and look cute for a verse (even doing the "look at me! look how pretty I am! head tilt thing), and then it turns into a leaf. Or possibly a letter.

Heh. My dance teacher has a matched pair of highschool boys that learn with her, that have their lesson after ours. One poor boy had the misfortune of arriving early, so my danec teacher made him come up and learn with us. "It'll be good for him to learn how to dance like a girl," is my rough translation of her words. He was practising our dance with us for about half an hour, before his own lesson coudl start.

Of the two boys, he is the one more likely to do the woman's role in kabuki. He's thinner, and his face is more narrow, and he's more... hmm. the other boy is really good at doing smooth, samurai-above-it-all emotionless face, never so mcuh as smiling when he dances. This is a real achievement, since at teh New Year's party, he danced to *kareoke*, and cracked up before and after.

Work

So, after two weeks with pretty much no teaching, I have elementry school visits (all morning yesterday and tomorrow, 4 classes in a row), new lessons yesterday, and the day before, 4 classes today, a meeting tomorrow after the shogakko visit and 5 on Friday. Plus visiting a different shogakko on monday, the same one I visited this week next Thursday. Should still be a lot easier, since the sannensei, poor bastards, have Big Scary Exams next week.

I know some of you *cough[livejournal.com profile] girl_starfishcough* have a schedule like that pretty much every week, but it's not so common for me. Also, these are all hard on my voice. In my classes, the JTEs pretty much expect me do at least 90% of the talking, and between the shogakko kids and the "the world may end next week!" joie de vivre of the sannensei... Ouch.
