jamjarthe thing about writing in the little livejournal window is that you only get a small paragraph at a time. So you can write, almost stream of concious, with what you said six lines ago only just connected with what you're writing now. So,
Atti was used to English, thought in it half the time, spoke it more often then he didn't, but he still had to put conscious effort into remembering to pronounce 'J' in names the English way. El-i-*jah*.
Elijah who was almost tiny, sweet and vulnerable to look even when he patently wasn't. Elijah bruised easily, which made you forget that he wasn't breakable, that he was tough in unexpected ways. Sharp teeth and a soft underbelly, just visible as bait.
Orlando's friend, and maybe more, even if it was hard to tell with Orlando and the fellowship actors. They acted like they'd already reached the cheerful, careless stage of a relationship, where flirting was replaced by in-jokes and seduction by "You wanna?"
Atti liked being involved; he liked the give and take, he liked knowing what his partner wanted in bed. Good, familiar sex.
Elijah seemed to have his own self-image highly compartmentalised. Not like Orlando, who knew he was gorgeous, carried the knowledge with him on screen, on stage, walking down the road to post a letter.
Elijah knew he was attractive, but only when he was interviewed, shown ten times larger on the cinema screen or twenty times smaller on TV. The transition to attractive-normally had not occured to him and the selective blindness was appealing.
He leaned into Orlando on the couch, curled up like seeking warmth, eyes fixed on the screen. Occasionally, he whispered into Orlando's ear, comments and jokes and d'you remembers. they looked isolated, insular, but when Atti left the doorway, Elijah shifted his legs to make space for him, then dug his feet under Atti's legs for warmth.
