Dear Secret Santa,
General comments:
I like gen, het and slash. I like twosomes and threesomes and on-their-own. I have very few squicks that aren't related to bad writing/characterisation. I'm really not being helpful, am I?
Okay, I love a good bystander fic, things that give a new perspective on characters. I like post-show stuff and off-stage. I love AUs, reincarnation, crossovers and cliché fic, though in those cases what works for me is that thing of characters still being themselves, even when they and their world are different.
The main thing that turns me off a fic is when other relationships are sacrificed or diminished for the sake of the pairing, when the weight of that just distorts the rest of the fic.
More specifically...
Warai no Daigaku aka University of Laughs
I'm so easy with this, really. I'm trying to think of something more helpful and I just stuck on how much I love the movie. Something post-movie would be nice, even if potentially heartbreaking/heart warming (much like the end of the movie, in fact).
Diana Wynne Jones - Chronicles of Chrestomanci
I'm not so fussed on characters for this one, though I am very fond of the Chants. Any or no pairing would be good, though I'd prefer if anything explicit was set when they were reasonably age-appropriate. Something with magic, something about the things that make them special even in that world might be nice.
Samurai Champloo
I have so much love for this series. Even aside from the fact that it's funny and entertaining and *good*, it's just-- it talks about the Ainu and the exile islands and it has female character that you can like and admire, and ones that you can't, but you can see why they're that way. I love that all three of them while they might need each other some times, are not dependent on each other, could survive on their own, probably.
And I love the way the three of them matter to each other. Whether it's romantic or not, they have this connection. Sex or pairings or configuration, whatever it is, I'd like it to respect that dynamic.
Brick (movie)
Such a good movie and full credit for you if you manage to write something with the feel of it. I like Brendan, but someone else's POV would be interesting. Het, gen or slash, it's all good. I'd prefer something set outside the movie, before or after, but I'm easy either way.
The important thing is that you have fun writing it. Good luck and thank you in advance,
Jamjar
